Drink driving offence, guilty plea — fixed fee £2,800 plus VAT
Fee includes
- 2 hours attendance/preparation:
- considering evidence
- taking your instructions and drafting a witness statement
- providing advice on likely sentence
- Counsel’s attendance and representation at Court for one day
The fee does not include:
- instruction of any expert witnesses
- taking additional statements from any witnesses
- advice and assistance in relation to a special reasons hearing
- advice or assistance in relation to any appeal
The key stages of your matter are based on the presumption that you intend to plead guilty and have a date for your hearing.
- Meet with your solicitor to provide instructions on what happened.
- We will consider initial disclosure, and any other evidence and provide advice.
- Arranging to take witness statements
- We will explain the court procedure to you so you know what to expect on the day of your hearing, and the sentencing options available to the court.
- We will conduct any further preparatory work, obtain further instructions from you if necessary and answer any follow up queries you have.
- We cannot provide a timescale of when your hearing will take place, as this depends on the court listing for that day.
- We will discuss the outcome.

Drink driving offence, not guilty plea
Where a not guilty plea is anticipated we will charge an hourly rate as how much work is required will vary significantly from case to case.
We anticipate that this will take between 10 and 100 hours work at £230 per hour. Total costs estimated at £2,300 to £23,000 (+ VAT).
The exact costs will depend on the individual circumstances of the matter. For example, it may be necessary to commission and review expert reports.
The work carried out will include some or all of the following:-
- attendance/preparation: £1,000 to £2,500 +Vat
- considering the prosecution case and unused material £500 to £2,500 +Vat
- taking your instructions £250 to £1,250 +Vat
- taking statements from witnesses of fact £500 +Vat
- providing advice on the prospects of securing an acquittal £500 +Vat
- providing advice on likely sentence if convicted £250 +Vat
- Attendance and representation at the Magistrates Court £500 to £2,500+Vat
- instruction of any expert witnesses £1,000 to £3,000 +Vat
- Conducting a site visit £1,000 to £3,000 +Vat
- advice and assistance in relation to a special reasons hearing £800 +Vat
- advice or assistance in relation to any appeal £1,000 +Vat
